UW Women in IT is pleased to announce that Suzanne Broadberry is the new co-lead of UW Women in IT (UW-WIT). She replaces outgoing co-lead Sara Tate-Pederson, and joins co-lead Manda Johnson in providing leadership for the 450+ member organization, dedicated to developing strategies to improve the recruitment, retention and advancement of women working in information technology on campus.
Suzanne started her career in IT when she took on the role of assistant registrar for information technology and began supervising the team of business analysts in the UW–Madison Office of the Registrar in 2014. After attending the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) MOR IT Leaders Program (ITLP) as a member of the 2017-18 cohort, she became more interested in being involved in the IT community and joined the UW-WIT steering team.
Suzanne’s career became more tech focused as she moved to the Division of Continuing Studies to take on a project management role in January 2019. In August 2022, Suzanne joined the Project Management Office (PMO) within the Division of Information Technology and expressed an interest in stepping up into the co-chair role in UW-WIT.
“Being involved in UW Women in IT has given me so much through connection with others in the IT community,” Suzanne says. “I want to work as a chair of UW-WIT to make diverse IT connections more accessible across campus.”
Sara Tate-Pederson stepped down from UW Women in IT leadership to serve as Exec Committee chair for the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) Women In IT community.
Additionally, UW-WIT would like to recognize new steering team members and those rolling off the steering team:
