DoIT’s Web Hosting Service provides a community test and production web hosting environment for UW–Madison and its affiliates.
We host web accounts on various platforms, which offer support for LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP), Windows/IIS/ASP.NET, Java/Tomcat, Node.js, Ruby on Rails and more.
All accounts include:
- Custom domain(s) (e.g. mydept.wisc.edu, subdept.mydept.wisc.edu, etc.) with options for .orgs and .coms. Please review the Office of Strategic Communications Website Domain Policy and accompanying procedure.
- Distinct test and production web hosting environments.
- Intuitive Web Control Panel for site management and various publishing options with version control built in for GitLab.
- Un-metered bandwidth
- Automated nightly backups of files and databases
- Statistical reports and access and error log viewer
- Additional quota options above the service level allocation.

In addition to the storage included in your service level, we can add storage at a base rate of $5 /1GB/ per year. For large-volume pricing, we can engage with the CCI team and assist with other options (AWS/Azure, Box, Google Drive, etc.)
