Congrats on making it to the finish line, Badgers! Before UW–Madison’s spring 2026 commencement, take a few minutes to confirm your name is correct for your diploma — and, if you’re crossing the stage Friday, record your name pronunciation.
Check your diploma name for spring 2026 commencement
When you applied to graduate, you chose whether your diploma would display your legal name or your name in use. You can update that choice before the degree conferral date: May 10, 2026.
- Log in to MyUW with your NetID.
- Open the Student Center tile, then select Academic Records.
- Select Apply for Graduation, then Update Graduation Status.
- Review your diploma name and update it if needed.
Need to update the name itself? You can change your name in use in the UW–Madison Profile app, or submit a legal name change request through Student Center.

Deadline: May 5, 2026
- Find the NameCoach email sent to your UW–Madison address.
- Click the link to access your NameCoach profile.
- Follow the prompts to record or update your pronunciation.
Names are not read at the Saturday, May 9 ceremony at Camp Randall Stadium.
