For summer 2025 courses that use eTexts or digital learning tools, the Engage order period will begin on January 22 and remain open until end of day Wednesday, March 26. Please share this information with interested instructors.
Engage is a program that offers instructors a way to integrate digital publisher materials into their Canvas courses at a fraction of the cost for students. Instructors can order electronic textbooks (eTexts) or publisher digital learning tools (DLTs) to help enhance the student learning experience. Key benefits include:
- Immediate access: Digital materials are available on day one of the semester, ensuring all students have access at the same time.
- Significant cost savings: eTexts are typically 40 to 80% off print retail prices, with DLTs discounted 25 to 35%. The cost of the materials is bundled into students’ tuition bills, making it easy to cover the cost with financial aid.
- Enhanced learning tools: Interactive features like in-text quizzing, highlighting, and note-sharing improve student engagement and provide real-time feedback for instructors.
Engage began as a pilot in the spring of 2018 with the support of the Associated Students of Madison (ASM), and since then, students have saved just over $19 million off the retail price of their materials.
