What’s happening?

UDOIT – New dashboard

Have you checked out UDOIT recently? It features a new Course Accessibility Scorecard dashboard which gives you more insight into barriers affecting the accessibility of your Canvas course. For more information, refer to this KnowledgeBase document.

Canvas – Summer and fall course shell creation

Canvas course shell creation and enrollments for the upcoming summer and fall terms is happening soon. Summer course creation begins April 7; fall course creation begins April 14.

Once generated, instructors are free to enter the courses and begin development. Enrollment information will be updated every four hours.

HelioCampus AC – Evaluations begin April 18

For most courses, HelioCampus AC course evaluations begin Friday, April 18. HelioCampus AC departmental administrators should complete setup of their evaluation instances, including assignment of course sections, by end of day Friday, April 11. For refreshers on the process, refer to this KnowledgeBase document.

Zoom – New minimum version requirement

Effective Wednesday, April 2, the minimum version requirement for the Zoom computer and mobile application will be updated from 6.2.0 to 6.3.0. All UW–‍Madison Zoom accounts and individuals attending UW–‍Madison-hosted Zoom meetings must use version 6.3.0 or later.

Individuals using a web browser (e.g., Firefox, Chrome, Safari) to access Zoom at https://uwmadison.zoom.us will not be affected. For more information, refer to this KnowledgeBase document.

DoIT – Microgrants deadline, May 22

DoIT Academic Technology and the Division of Teaching and Learning (DTL) are offering microgrants to help explore how  data empowered education practices help UW–‍Madison faculty and instructional staff gain insights into how to support student success. The application window for the 2025-2026 academic year is open now through May 22.

This year’s microgrant program focuses on a critical question: How does engagement with online course content potentially impact student performance? To learn more and apply, see this article.

Engage – Order periods for summer and fall

Instructors intending to use Engage for the summer or fall semesters, please keep the following in mind:

  •       The ordering period for eTexts and digital learning tools (DLTs) for the summer semester is currently open until March 26.
  •       The ordering period for fall is March 19-May 28.
