UDOIT

Last updated on February 6, 2023

The Universal Design Online Content Inspection Tool, or UDOIT (pronounced, “You Do It”), is a course accessibility checker integrated in Canvas. Instructors and course designers can use it to scan an entire Canvas course to identify accessibility barriers. After the scan, an instructor can correct some barriers directly through the tool. For barriers that cannot be corrected within the tool, guidance is provided to help an instructor remove the barrier.

Technology is an intricate part of most courses and learners using it have a wide variety of characteristics and contexts. Accessibility and universal design learning focuses on making course materials easier for all students to access and understand. The university is committed to providing assistance and accommodation, while also fixing barriers whenever possible. To help, UDOIT empowers instructors to scan a new or current course to make it more accessible to all learners.

UDOIT is part of the Learn@UW suite of learning technologies. More information about UDOIT, updates, events and how to work with the Learn@UW–‍Madison learning technology consultants are available on the DoIT Academic Technology website.
